Pulling on Lead | Recall Struggles | Over Reacting to Dogs

Before the training Lyla did not listen when we were going out. She would jump, lunge, bark and scare people, even though she’s the friendliest dog in the world. Absolutely no recall. No loose lead whatsoever, she would just pull, and I just felt very out of control with her and going anywhere was quite stressful.

Now she has grown a brain, so she will listen to me when we’re out. Loose lead walking she’ll be right next to me…she’s really good at recall. Yesterday I went to Emu Point and let go of the lead just about the whole time and she came back every time which is a first for her – ever.

We have even been able to go to Dome for breakfast. We had a dog at the table right next to us. Lyla didn’t bark, she didn’t lunge, she didn’t jump. She whined to say hello for a few seconds, then she just lay down and was quiet.

Frances is a very adaptable approachable person. If you are worried Frances won’t be the right fit for you, literally just send her a message and reach out, because Frances has got so many people who she has helped who are all different dogs and different owners and she is very adaptable.

LYNETTE & RICHARD with FONZIE

LYNETTE & RICHARD with FONZIE

Denmark, WA

So far Fonzie has had two lessons with Frances, our biggest problem was getting in and out the front door without Fonzie bolting and many times nearly taking our legs out from underneath us. After the first lesson and us continuing the work Frances had done, this problem was solved!! We are so happy, Fonzie now sits and waits until he is invited to go out, no more jumping, spinning round in circles or bolting for it once the door is open. We are making steady progress with “on the bed” and I can now walk Fonzie off the lead without him doing a runner, all this after only two lessons. We do not want to strip Fonzie of his puppy free spirit, we really just want Fonzie to be safe, to feel loved and know he can trust us to do the right thing by him, his wellbeing is our priority. He is so much calmer already and I truly believe that the guidance Frances has given us has contributed to this. Thank you so much.❤

Bighting | Mouthing | Recall Struggles

Frances is an extremely talented and kind trainer. The turn around we saw in our puppy was incredible. Frances is able to clearly communicate and show you how to train your dog to produce the results you’re looking for.

We were struggling with biting and recall and due to our in-experience were confused how to start addressing these issues and found our self getting frustrated. Frances provided us with an individualised program that catered for our needs and availability. She worked with us 1:1 and privately where she was able to mould our energetic dog into a bright positive and lovely cuddle companion.

Frances made us feel safe and welcomed. She provided support and reassurance throughout and was almost instant in her reply’s, providing us with multiple strategies and plans that we could start implementing.

We cannot thank Frances enough for all you’ve done for Moe and us. We cannot recommend you highly enough.

Pulling on Lead

I arrived to Albany with my dog Skylar I’m not sure why but she was continually pulling and being very naughty so I got in contact with Frances who has been amazing in a very short time. I have been to dog training before in groups now I believe how much better one on one is the success I have had in a short time is amazing and thank you so much Frances you have done amazing job training Skylar and myself.

PAM with ERIK

PAM with ERIK

Dog attack trauma| Anxiety | Hyperactive | Reactive to other dogs

Frances showed how to rebuild 2 yr old Erik’s confidence (and mine!) after he became hyper vigilant and reactive after being bitten on a walk by a dog that came out of a property we were passing.
He checks in with me more, rather than fixating on every single moving thing and peering around every corner in anticipation of aggression.
Still working on some things but he is much more relaxed (therefore can learn) and it’s so much nicer going out, thanks so much Frances.

RACHEL with MAIYA & SARGE

RACHEL with MAIYA & SARGE

Reactivity to Dogs | Reactivity to Guests

We are so glad we signed up with Frances for help with Sarge and Maiya. Sarge had a lot of trust issues with visitors to our home, Frances has helped us to understand his behaviour and given us the right tools to help Sarge understand not all visitors are a threat.

Maiya did not like to see other dogs when we walked and would often react by lunging and barking at them, Frances has shown us very effective techniques to teach Maiya that other dogs are ok.

Both of them improved so much in the time we have worked with Frances and we continue to implement what we have been taught to help out dogs have a wonderful life and better understanding of the world around us. Sarge and Maiya both loved Frances and would get so excited to see her.

She is a wonderful dog trainer and I would highly recommend her if you are needing help with your best friends behaviour.

Fleur and Gordon - JOSEY

Fleur and Gordon - JOSEY

Over Excitement | Stressful Walks | Recall Struggles

Josey was just 13 months old when we met Frances.  He’s a sweet-tempered Border Collie/Hunterway/Kelpie X. We’ve always had dogs and trained them in basic obedience but are much older now and an energetic herding dog like Josey was starting to cause some difficulties. The first warning came from our Vet ‘That dog is too strong for you. He’s going to pull you over and cause an accident’.  Then a couple of days later he did! Luckily I was unhurt but we knew we had to do something straight away and got in touch with Follow My Lead Dog Behaviour Training.

Frances came to our house and we told her how Josey jumped up on everyone, made a fuss when meeting other dogs when out on a walk and pulled like a train! She assured us all these problems could be overcome so we signed up for the Super Dog Course.

We started the next week following Frances’ instructions and there was a definite improvement, however the real breakthrough came when Frances took Josey off for four one-on-one training sessions. These made a tremendous difference and each time he came home calmer and more attentive.  He is a changed dog now, ignores other dogs and people on the footpath, controls his urge to jump up on people and walks like an old pro on the lead beside me. He’s also quiet in the house, happy to veg out until we go for a walk.

Finally thanks to Frances, the other day a unknown guy came up to me at the local dog park and said ‘You’ve got the best trained dog here’!  How good is that!

It was a team effort but we ‘followed her lead’.  Thanks Frances and we’re ready to carry on your good work with our Super Dog Josey.

Barking at Guests | Pulling on Lead

We were having problems with our nervous little poodleX who is 2 years old – not an outgoing girl, and barking at visitors coming in the door.

Frances was great because she explained why our puppy was reacting as she did – it was not obvious to us. She showed us how to modify our behaviour and build confidence for both us and our dog in small steps. This worked for us as the more confident Teddy became, the less nervous and then less barky she became.

She also used to pull on the lead despite our attempts to stop her. Frances built in steps to our routine, and now Teddy is a gentle walker which makes things nice for everyone!

I think Frances is good at solving specific problem behaviours. Teddy will always have that poodle nature coming to the fore, but the problem areas are now workable.

Now that we have completed the training, we have a series of games and little practical training sessions to keep up with, to reinforce what we and Teddy have learnt along the way.

Frances is lovely and patient and we had some laughs and fun along the way – loved the one on one training aspect.

Paige - BEAN

Paige - BEAN

Reactivity to Dogs and Children

Bean used to snarl and lunge at dogs and young children her mum and her encountered on walks around town and in the bush.

This made walks very stressful for Paige, expecially as Bean is a big strong girl.

But now Bean is calm and relaxed around the things that used to worry her. They can pass dogs on walks without Bean having a melt down and Paige feels so much safer to go out with her beautiful girl.

Off Lead Recall | Leash Walking Struggles

Frances has been brilliant in giving us the skills and techniques to train our dog Arlie. We have learnt how to keep him engaged and willing to learn. She was very positive and communicates well toward us and Arlie.

We would highly recommend her to anyone looking to train their dog.
Thanks you so much Frances.

Alex and Christina - NINJA

Alex and Christina - NINJA

Deaf Dog | Stressful Walks | Zero Recall

Ninja has a weakness – his hearing – but following body movement is something he’s super good at! His family really struggled with him ignoring them and he would run away when they let him off the lead.
How do you train a dog to come when you call when he can’t hear you? You train him never to run off in the first place!
And that’s what we did.

Ninja no longer bolts when he’s let off the lead. He always keeps an eye on his owners so that if they call him to come, he’ll see them and be able to follow their signals! This is what Ninja’s owner has to say:

“Ninja 100% ignored me and never listened to my commands. At the dog park, he was like a “crazy dog”, not listening and didn’t focus on me.” (they were also too scared to take him to the cafe because he wouldn’t settle down) “After the training programme me and my wife can enjoy our breakfast and coffee (at the cafe). Highly recommend! You will 100% see the results after the training programme.”

What an amazing improvement for Ninja and his family! I’m so happy for them all ????

Anxious Barking at Guests

Our gorgeous Jack Russell is 11 and was very passionate about people who visited, walked past, knocked on the door or just wanted to leave at the end of the night. Thanks to Frances we have been able to show Banjo that you don’t need to be so out of control and you can be calm even with chaos going on around you. This has been a game changer in our little family. We would highly recommend Frances and her team at Follow my Lead.

Stressful Walks | Off Lead Struggles

Follow My Lead Dog Training with Frances has been so helpful.

I was really struggling taking my dog for walks because she was so energetic and so social that she just wouldn’t listen to me and so we would constantly end up in some very negative situations with other dogs and their owners.
I had lost confidence and needed help.

Frances has given me so much support and guidance with our dog and while everyday we are still working on training her. I feel I have been given the tools to make our walks far less stressful and much more enjoyable.

Russell and Dee - MINDY

Russell and Dee - MINDY

Off Lead Jogging | Leash Walking Struggles | Stick Obsession

We thought our 3 yo Mindy was pretty well behaved…..and then we met Frances 😀

Frances is truly a professional. She is so enthusiastic and super organized.

After finding out where we wanted to get to with Mindy, she used her training skills to lift Mindy – and us – to another level.

We’ve enjoyed the whole experience and see the results in Mindy every day.

We could not recommend Frances more highly.

Greer - CLEO

Greer - CLEO

The Puppy of Your Dreams!

Frances has been incredibly flexible with my needs and my beautiful puppy Cleo’s. Cleo and I haven’t been able to do face to face training sessions so we follow a virtual program. Frances is always modifying or including things that I identify Cleo needs help on and nothing is too much of a bother!

It has been really helpful to have Frances available for support whenever I need it and to help with perspective and trying different things if even the smallest concern arises.

Highly recommend the dream dog program which we are on! Cleo has a lot still to learn and now in adolescence she might have some issues (or I might) and knowing I have support when I need it is great!

……………….

Cleo’s doing so great! Successful Bunnings trip for a minding-her-own-business session and we hit the beach with her half sister and her breeder last Sunday! Recall wasn’t too bad! Energetic but friendly and playful and listened well! ????

Pulling on Lead - Badly!

We enjoyed the experience that Frances provided for us. Willow loved every minute and especially she loved Frances. Frances helped Willow to pay attention and stay focused while we walk. We have many skills now to help Willow learn and grow in her new world.

Jen - DOUGALL

Jen - DOUGALL

Denmark, WA

Jen and Dougall are a wonderful dog and owner team! Jen was struggling with Dougall’s habit of ignoring her when they went out and getting Dougall to sit calmly was next to impossible as he is very excitable and loves people and showers them with love! He also barked at the dogs across the road who bark a lot, and would run after people going for walks along the fence line.

In a short amount of time, Jen and Dougall have come a long way! Dougall will now lie down and not wriggle (even long enough for a photo!) and stays on his mat which makes it so much easier to keep him safely out from under the family’s feet.

Jen can now call Dougall and he comes and she is able to stop him from barking incessantly. He no longer runs at people along the fence, so he can be out in the yard more now!

Walks are way easier, and they can go out and she knows he will still listen to her! They go to Denmark Post Office together where Dougall charms everyone and behaves himself very well. He’s such a special boy!

Candice - BILBO

Candice - BILBO

Albany, WA

Bilbo was nearly a year old when he started training. He is the most beautiful boy, but had been pulling his owner along on walks very persistently, and he would winge and fixate every time he saw a person or another dog on their walks. This was kind of embarassing and took all the joy out of the walk!

After training, Candice and Bilbo can walk down York St. with all the bustle and noise, and Bilbo will stay relaxed and listen to her. They both enjoy walks way more now!

Bilbo also loooves the beach! He won’t go in the water, but enjoys dashing into the dunes and rushing up to other dogs and people walking. This made it hard work taking him to the beach and Candice found herself doing it less and less.

But Bilbo now comes! He can listen off leash as well as on leash and will flip around and trot back to his owners whether he’s at the beach or the favourite park.

Outings are so much easier now and Bilbo’s lovable nature can be fully enjoyed as they explore Albany together. Cutest boy EVER!
